Public Relations Specialist (Contract) ___________________________________________________________________________________________ DEPARTMENT: Marketing REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing & Public Relations TRAVEL Occasional as required CLASSIFICATION Contract (open-ended) Position Summary Convention Data Services is seeking a public relations superstar to help drive the CDS brand through dynamic storytelling. This person will develop and execute a PR strategy and manage all PR activities, including media relations management, writing and pitching stories as well as prepping spokespeople for interviews. The ideal person will have a minimum of 5 years of PR or journalism experience, preferably in the events industry. Essential Functions -Create, manage and implement industry and community-related PR campaigns to ensure maximum amount of media exposure. -Day-to-day execution of public relations including writing, editing and pitching press releases, supporting media interviews and producing messaging documents. -Review trade publications as well as industry and tech news for media opportunities and content ideas. -Develop and expand upon relationships with key contacts -- industry, media and key influencers. -Research new publications. -Communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders to generate content. -Identify and vet speaking opportunities. -Represent CDS at industry events as needed. -Research and identify any corporate award opportunities. -Update/maintain PR CRM. -Collaborate with Brand Strategist and Content Strategist as required. |
