1. Serves as head of the curatorial department and manages its budget, activities, and staff. 2. Supervises and directs curatorial management of the collection, including its care, display, accession, and scholarly cataloguing. 3. Promotes knowledge of the collection through publications, exhibitions, installations, and teaching. 4. Determines priorities for department and its collection including teaching, acquisitions, exhibitions, publication, and conservation. 5. Determines the content of exhibitions, installations, and publications and directs their execution. 6. Develops a collection strategy to enhance, broaden, and expand the collection through gift and purchase. 7. Raises funds for exhibitions and acquisitions and stewards Governing Board members, donors, collectors, students, and faculty. 8. Teaches and lectures on collection and the area of expertise. 9. Represents the curatorial department on Gallery and University committees; represents the Gallery and University to a local, national, and international community to promote the institution and its collection. 10. May perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Education: Fluency in at least one European language is desirable. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Fluency in at least one European language is desirable. Posting Position Title: Curator 5 Required Skill/ability 3: Demonstrated success in leadership and in establishing and implementing policies and procedures to achieve objectives. Work Week: Standard (M-F equal number of hours per day) University Job Title: Robert L. Solley Curator of Prints and Drawings Required Skill/ability 1: Demonstrated a keen eye and broad knowledge of the techniques and history of the graphic arts as well as of professional museum practices. Required Skill/ability 4: Lucid writing and strong public speaking skills, coupled with an interest in teaching and mentoring students and younger colleagues. Required Skill/ability 2: Desire and ability to build relationships and work effectively and collaboratively across departments at the Art Gallery, with colleagues at the University and in the community, and across the field nationally and internationally.

Ph.D in Art History plus at least eight years of related experience including a substantial record of major exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and donor stewardship, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
