Growing ophthalmology practice specializing in retina and ocular oncology looking for an experienced ophthalmic photographer for our lead position. Responsibilities include:
Performs a variety of highly skilled duties associated with the operation of specialized equipment to assist physicians in the examination and treatment of diseases of the eye, including fluorescein and ICG angiography, color fundus photography, optos optical coherence tomography, retinal thickness analysis, slit lamp and gonio photography.
Oversees imaging staff cross training: Train all staff in special imaging techniques. (e.g. Angiography, fundus/ext. photography, OCT/OCT-A, PDT, microperimetry, VF, B-scan)
Assist all clinics with imaging/Float and fill-in when other clinics need help
Study Imaging: Assist technicians to obtain certifications and manage imaging guidelines for protocols
Formulates plan of action to decrease patient wait time in the imaging services departments.
Camera Maintenance: maintain cameras and associated ophthalmic equipment and instruments in proper working order. Managing repairs/breakdowns, software updates, and cleaning
Ensures standard equipment calibration, imaging exam room preparation and organization throughout the clinic day
Regularly surveys physician and staff regarding imaging quality and efficiency.
Recommends short, intermediate, and long-term goals and objectives for imaging department planning.
Keeps abreast of new developments and techniques in ophthalmic imaging.
Communications with Sales Representatives (Ordering photography equipment/supplies)
Research in New Modalities for Clinical Purposes (e.g. Optos, slit-lamp attachment, OCT-A)
Create and Update Detailed Imaging Protocols for Each Imaging Device
OPS presentations, Webinars, and Articles
Updates to SOPs for Imaging Training
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of standard ophthalmic photographic techniques and equipment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Performs in tactful and professional manner
The minimum requirements are as follows:
4 years ophthalmology imaging experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in imaging platforms such as Heidelberg, Optos, RetCam
Must be COA or COT certified
