The Career Design Center invites applicants with a strong interest in meeting the career development needs of diverse racial and ethnic groups to apply for the Career Design Consultant position. In this role, you will utilize a range of career education strategies and a Career Community framework to collaborate with faculty/staff, employer partners and alumni around the world who have a wide range of experience and backgrounds to actively engage the University’s diverse student population in designing their careers and lives after college.
Your responsibilities will include: • Provide strategic leadership and facilitation of 2 Career Communities: Data, Engineering, Technology + Analytics Community as well as the Education, Non-profit + Social Impact Community to help students explore and connect with industry interest areas and leverage the connections for opportunities. • Coach students 1:1 and in group settings on full range of career development topics with a particular emphasis in the sectors of the assigned Career Communities including exploratory/transitional students and students preparing for a range of post- graduation options. • Demonstrate outstanding capacity to work empathically with a wide range of students from various backgrounds and life experiences, recognizing the unique needs and concerns of first-generation students and students from under-represented groups. • Utilize strong presentation development and public speaking skills to present career education content. • Build collaborative relationships with employers and alumni across the world who are involved in all capacities of the workforce as a resource for student exploration • Collaborate with faculty/staff influencers and campus partners across all majors, schools and departments to co-create and deliver career design content and programming • Develop relevant educational content to support Career Community goals and scale career education for students and alumni. • Partner with newly hired and veteran Career Design Center staff as a part of multi-disciplinary team to support the departmental mission and achieve goals.

Bachelor’s degree. • Transferable experience in career coaching. • Demonstrated presentation development and public speaking skills. • Strong and professional written communication skills to be applied to media outlets for diverse audiences. • Ability to effectively work with multiple constituents including students, alumni, faculty and employers. • Strong interpersonal and active listening skills to be applied to 1:1 and group coaching. • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize multiple projects. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within department and with external partners. • Openness to learning and utilizing technology to achieve departmental goals.
A master’s degree is preferred. • An understanding of career and student development theory and its application is preferred.
