The Community Engagement Curator educates and inspires diverse off-campus audiences by studying and interpreting the complex, contested and ever-evolving stories of southern life in collaboration with community partners. Building on decades of seminal research conducted on southern life and material culture that comprises the strength of McKissick's object and archival collections. This key staff member will be primarily responsible for maintaining and building these collections, while identifying new avenues of inquiry, deepening/developing strategic community partnerships, and amplifying public program initiatives. The person in this position will provide a vision for and initiate research; direct exhibit, program and publication projects; and supervises a Folklife Director and a graduate assistant overseeing the Folklife Resource Center and SC Broadcast Association Archives. Reports to the Museum's Executive Director.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Master's degree in history, museology or a related field and 4 year related experience; or bachelor's degree and 6 years related experience.
