The Insurance Council of Texas is a nonprofit trade association that promotes the property and casualty insurance industry by providing relevant information and resources to its members, the public, regulators, and the media. ICT represents nearly 400 companies, making it the largest insurance state trade association in the United States.
This role represents and protects the brand through the effective development and execution of communication and marketing strategies that positively impact member engagement. Looking for a creative, self-motivated team member who excels at problem solving, project management and can anticipate potential issues. Must demonstrate agility, business acumen and respond to issues in a timely manner.
While this role is primarily remote, you must be able to be in Austin, Texas several times per month for meetings, training, and events.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Work with Director of Communications to develop effective and timely communications relevant to our membership including:
Leads the development and creation of topics for campaigns including online consumer education campaigns.
Assists project manager with the production and logistics of podcast and webinars. Help identify speakers, topics, and schedule to support business goals.
Assists with developing social media strategy. Manages the development of content and posting on all social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn maintaining a consistent ICT brand.
Assists communications & public affairs director or external marketing/public relations agency in producing regular member publications including but not limited to weekly/monthly newsletters, event promotions and annual reports.
Works with webmaster in producing and managing relevant content for ICT website.
Works with team members and external agency to create, distribute and track user metrics for all member publication and social media channels.
In coordination with executive director, communications & public affairs director, or external agency, develop marketing strategies to increase member awareness of ICT and its services. Implement strategies for membership outreach and communications.
Works with communications & public affairs director or external agency developing marketing plans and materials for external events that align with overall strategy and communications calendar; works with project manager to identify theme/approach.
May work with an external marketing/public relations agency producing graphics and marketing content.
Support ICT efforts in strategic communication plans relating to key legislative issues.
Maintain a professional presence and effective working relationship with leadership.
Work with other communications staff in order to serve as a backup as needed, (i.e. webmaster)

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Business, Communication, or a related field
Three to five years’ experience in the field of communications and/or marketing
Experience working for an advertising/marketing agency or in-house marketing/communications department.
Proven strong writing and editing skills
Experience and working knowledge of managing marketing/communications campaigns
Working knowledge of various graphics/publishing software and layout and design skills
Knowledge of industry best practices of using data, analytics, and metrics to gauge campaign success.
The Texas Insurance Checking Office Inc. (TICO) is the statistical agent designated by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) to collect data on private passenger automobile, residential property, and farm and ranch insurance under TDI's statistical plans. In addition, TICO provides manual coding and statistical reporting services for commercial lines and residential property insurance.
