Archer Gallery Director-Curator – Part-time Adjunct Faculty Instructor– Continuous Pool

GENERAL FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruct classes utilizing techniques and knowledge of the discipline that facilitate student learning.
Participate in decision-making processes by taking part in department and college committees.
Pursue professional development.
Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques.
Work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College.
Visit artists' studios and maintain current contacts with artists and galleries in Portland, Seattle and surrounding areas; keep current of contemporary art practices in the Pacific Northwest.
Promote and maintaining broad-based support for the gallery across campus which includes reaching out to administrators, non-art faculty, and other constituencies on campus to engage the community in contemporary visual art programming.
Curate and install four exhibitions during the academic year.
Maintain and update gallery website: www.archergallery.space
Arrange packing, shipping and insurance of pieces.
Arrange press releases and media coverage of shows. Prepare flyers, announcement cards, and catalogs.
Compile, update, and maintain the Gallery mailing list.
Prepare bulk mailings in collaboration with Central Shipping & Receiving.
Hire, train, and supervise work study students.
Deliver presentations and gallery talks to students and other groups.
Plan, coordinate, and attend receptions and artists' talks.
Schedule outside activities involving use of the gallery space.
Prepare a yearly budget and present it to the Student Government Finance Committee.
Administer the Gallery budgets by monitoring expenditures and maintaining records of all purchases; resolving budget problems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
CLARK ART TALKS: VISITING ARTIST AND SCHOLAR LECTURE SERIES
Select/invite artists and schedule art talks on Zoom and/or on campus (nine per year)
Coordinate with instructors and allocate funding for classroom workshops.
