Brandeis University is delighted to announce a career opportunity as a Senior Photographer.The Senior Photographer will report to the Director of Integrated Design and be a key member of the content marketing and storytelling team in the Communications office. They are passionate about using photography to tell compelling stories. The person in this role is a creative storyteller who consistently produces high quality, engaging, high impact work, whether using a multimedia photo essay, or single well-timed, well-composed image. The Senior Photographer will thrive on collaboration and enjoy finding opportunities to work creatively with others in the Communications office, including web and social media experts, writers, graphic designers, and other multimedia producers.Â
The right candidate to help engage with students, parents, alumni, faculty and other stakeholders. The person in this position will develop and produce great visual stories, primarily using photography, to promote and advance institutional goals and the brand narrative. The person in this position may also create videos and other multimedia content, depending on interest and skills. This position will manage the work of a University Photographer.
Responsible for the look and tone of photography in alignment with, and support of brand messaging. Must be able to execute all aspects of photography, including pre-planning and scheduling, story concepting, shooting candid/documentary, art directed, and/or studio/staged styles, lighting, photo editing, posting, and filing (tagging and uploading to digital asset management system). Collaborates with managers, writers, social media team, web team, magazine team, and integrated design team to craft stories and content for the website, social media, print publications, magazines, email and other communications. Partners with communicators and others across campus to effectively advance the universityâ™s core messages and brand. Stewards an iterative edit and approval process. 80%

Bachelorâ™s degree required.
Â Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, which might include working with higher education or other large, complex organizations.
Â Expert knowledge of professional photography equipment, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) and other photo editing and visual management software. Experience with DAMs is helpful, but not required. Must be willing to learn/use collaboration and project management tools like Slack and Asana.Â
Â Strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to capture powerful and visually striking images that help tell a story and/or support specific goals (for example, supporting a brand narrative). Sharp eye for detail, composition and general aesthetics.
Â Ability to contribute to content marketing decisions and develop visual stories across all platforms.Â
Â Ability to work independently is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively and deliver high-quality visual content that meets the needs of the Communications office and the university.
Â Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to adhere to guidelines and procedures.
Â Ability to mentor as well as manage the work of others.
