Under the direction of the Aztec Recreation, Marketing Manager and the Aztec Recreation, and Marketing Program Assistant. The Photographer is responsible for managing new and existing photography for all Aztec Recreation programs, products and services including capturing, vetting, editing, sharing and organizing photos as they relate to promotions, sales, marketing, programs, events, employees, customer service, and other images as needed for Associated Students/Aztec Recreation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Functions
The Photographer is responsible for completing Marketing Work Requests on a timely basis
Individual must be self-directed and able to prioritize multiple, intricate,
simultaneous projects and work directly with program supervisors, student staff, and professional coordinators
The Photographer must maintain excellent personal time management and scheduling
Ensuring the ability to be present for special events or other photo opportunities required of each project
The Photographer is responsible for regular updates to the Aztec Recreation Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other social media accounts as it relates to photography
Typical projects include, but are not limited to: taking photos during Aztec Rec programs such as Intramural Sports games, Sport Club on-campus games and practices, Aztec Adventures on-campus programs, Group Fitness classes,
Adapted Athletics events and practices; individual will organize photoshoots, take headshots of staff, and develop shot lists and take photos at special events
The Photographer is responsible for editing and organizing all photos taken and collected
The Photographer may be called upon to assist with, flyers, web banners, promotional digital display slides, and other graphic design projects as a member of a marketing team
The Photographer is responsible for including relevant logos, and other content; ensuring all work completed is in keeping with both Associated Students and Aztec Recreation guidelines
The Photographer works as a member of the marketing team in creating and executing marketing events to enhance membership activation and sales, customer service, as well as customer retention for Aztec Recreation including, but not limited to the ARC til Dark, ARC Fest, and other special events as needed
Must be fully knowledgeable of all the benefits (economic, physical and mental) of Aztec
Recreation membership and be able to communicate clearly and effectively with customers
The Photographer must be ready, willing and able to discuss membership with the public and ensures that each customer encounter is courteous and efficient
A proactive, positive and conscientious demeanor is required
Must be able to work quickly, under pressure, and with multiple projects
The photographer completes other duties as necessary
Customer Service and Collaboration
Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments
Safety
Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies
Adheres to Associated Students' Code of Safe Practices
Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence Ensures completion proper documentation is completed for each accident (employee and/or non-employee) and forwards to supervisor
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Must be currently enrolled at San Diego State University, taking a minimum of 6 units
Lower-Division students preferred
Candidates with less than one year prior to graduation need not apply.
Experience:
Knowledge of photography and photography editing software required
Ability to work well with diverse staff and customers required
Proficiency in Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, Google Suite, and Asana or other project management software preferred
Enthusiasm and knowledge of Associated Students programs and recreation programs preferred
License & Certification:
Must have or obtain certifications in American Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid prior to date of hire

Availability at least 10 hours per week with evening and weekend availability
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong computer skills utilizing: Mac OS System, Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop & Lightroom, Social Media, and Adobe Photoshop/Creative Cloud experience desirable
Must be fully knowledgeable of the benefits (economic, physical, and mental) of Aztec Recreation membership
Proficient knowledge of Aztec Recreation programs, facilities, and upcoming events
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public skills to interact with members, guests, and all Aztec Recreation staff
Ability to follow written and oral instructions

SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a part-time (10 hours/week), position with expected hours to be worked during business hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some evenings and weekends; employee schedules vary according to business needs.
