The Division of Student Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington serves all 43,000 undergraduate and graduate students. A job with Student Life Marketing (formerly Student Affairs Marketing) provides students the opportunity to work in an agency-like atmosphere where creative problem-solving and collaboration with colleagues lead to the development of effective strategies to build awareness, engagement, and action from target audiences. All Student Life Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives.

The Multimedia Photographer reports to the Digital Media Specialist (full-time staff photographer) and works closely with various members of the marketing team and professional staff/clients from around the Office of Student Life. Members of Student Life Marketing participate in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary. The Multimedia Photographer is someone with a creative eye and a flexible schedule who is willing to work some evenings and weekends. They will cover everything from major university events, department functions, marketing campaign shoots, as well as take portraits of staff and students. Video projects range from commercials to documentary-style, to 14-second vertical videos for social media.

• Photographs events and programs for immediate use on social platforms, campaigns, websites, archiving, and more.
• Photographs people, places, and scenes for advertising campaigns.
• Photographs portraits, campus, and other scenes as necessary, enhancing our collection of photographs and b-roll video footage.
• Edits and shares photo collections with clients and the team in a timely manner, sometimes same-day edits for posting on social media and other platforms.
• Maintains structure of photo libraries to optimize search capabilities.
• Brainstorms, storyboards, shoots, edits, and creatively enhances videos into professional commercials, presentations, or other formats - through the collaboration with the marketing team and/or clients.
• Creates videos in both vertical and horizontal formats based on audience and platform.
• Edits video footage in Adobe Premiere and enhances graphics in Adobe AfterEffects.

EDUCATION

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as GED or HSED)
• Current Indiana University student

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• Experience editing videos with Adobe Premiere
• Experience editing photos with Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, and Photo Mechanic
• Experience with video, video editing, and digital image editing
• Experience creating interactive graphics with Adobe After Effects

SKILLS

Required

• A solid understanding of DSLR cameras, lighting, and gathering audio
• Able to work a flexible schedule to cover some evening and weekend events as well as maintaining some office hours
• Fine attention to detail

• Exceptional written and communication skills
• Performs well in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere
