Full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in the Communications and Media Studies Department beginning in fall 2024.
The Communication and Media Studies Department provides undergraduate programs in Communication Studies, New Communication Media, Media Production, and Cinema Studies. Our faculty are a diverse group of life-long learners and curious global citizens committed to creating a respectful and inclusive education and workplace environment. As a faculty, we seek to nurture and inspire the next generation of culturally competent media artists and communicators.
Teach Public Relations courses including Writing for PR. Contribute to instruction as needed within the department
Typical classroom teaching responsibilities include a 3-3 load.
Assess student learning outcomes for courses taught
Contribute to department-wide curriculum development
Demonstrate a sustained and productive program of research or creative activity that involves undergraduates
Provide service to the Department and University
Maintain regular office hours
Advise and mentor students
Ph.D. or doctoral candidate, all but dissertation (ABD with degree conferral by August 2024) in Communications or a related field
Classroom teaching experience
Practical experiences in public relations, social media management, and/or culturally inclusive public relations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization
Commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate students of all academic backgrounds and diverse lived experiences
