The Campus Landscape Architecture and Assistant Landscape Architect are responsible for working with various campus constituency groups to plan, organize, supervise and perform professional landscape architecture, site planning and graphic rendering services supporting physical planning initiatives and the stewardship of campus resources. This includes developing and coordinating plans and standards that unite excellence in design and site planning with campus planning goals and the larger campus context, ensuring a seamless, cohesive campus fabric that engages the UC Davis community.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Campus Landscape Architect, the Assistant Landscape Architects essential functions include campus planning and design, plan review and project coordination, and asset management and stewardship of resources. The foundational responsibilities pertain the stewardship of campus landscape in relation to small and large capital improvement projects as well as in partnership with the day to day operations performed by the Arboretum and Public Garden team. This position is also responsible for leading the student internship program associated with landscape architecture and geographic information systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Daily duties will require the ability to use a computer for extended periods of time.
Duties will also require walking, lifting objects/container plants weighing up to 50 pounds, pushing and bending.
Some work performed outdoors, year-round in extreme weather conditions in an institutional setting.
Must be able to wear and maintain approved safety equipment such as a hard hat and eye protection.
Employee is personally responsible for following safety procedures/guidelines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work a non-standard work schedule that may include evenings, weekends, or alternative schedules such as 80 hours in 8 or 9 shifts instead of 10.
Must be able to work overtime, including non-scheduled hours demanded by or critical project scheduling.
Vacation usage by the employee may be restricted during peak workload.
Valid California Driver's license required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
Graduation from college with major work in landscape architecture or a related field (engineering, architecture, urban planning).
3-5 years of planning, site development and design experience.
Experience preparing professional graphic exhibits, computer models, and digital renderings for planning and design exhibits, documents and presentations.
Experience assisting with the preparation of working drawings, specifications, and detail development for improvements related to various aspects of site and landscape design.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Proficiency with the following software programs: AutoCAD, Sketchup (or other 3D modeling programs), the Adobe Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Basic understanding of ESRI ArcGIS suite.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
Site design experience, specifically with public or other institutional projects.
Experience using specialized software programs and digital rendering software such as V-Ray, Rhino, or Revit.
Experience mentoring and training students/ intern-level staff.
Experience meeting high productivity levels without specific deadlines.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Proficiency with ArcGIS database design and performing geospatial analysis.
Preparing of working drawings, specifications, and detail development for improvements related to bike circulation and parking, pedestrian plazas, sidewalks and public space, grading and drainage, and irrigation and planting design.
