Job Description Summary
Miami University seeks a Chair & Full Professor to lead the Department of Architecture and Interior Design (ARC+ID). Our three programs, Master of Architecture (NAAB-accredited), Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design (CIDA-accredited), provide a rigorous professional education within the context of a selective, mid-size liberal arts university. ARC+ID is part of the College of Creative Arts (CCA) that includes the Department of Art, Department of Music, Department of Theatre, Department of Emerging Technology in Business & Design, and a Program in Arts Management.
Job Description
Department Chair and Full Professor to be the academic and administrative leader and to manage the work of the department.
Responsibilities include excellent communication and creative problem solving; academic planning; the enhancement of program and curriculum; faculty evaluation; facilitation of faculty promotion and tenure process; the coordination of teaching assignments and schedules; student recruitment; oversight of facility use; budgeting and allocation of resources; accreditation; alumni relations, along with some external fundraising in partnership with the director of development and the dean; fostering support for divisional and university goals; advocating effectively for the department within and outside the university; encouraging collaborative interdisciplinary programming; providing academic, creative and scholarly leadership for the three programs housed within the department; teaching and performing research duties as appropriate; and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must hold a terminal degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or allied field (M.Arch/MID/Ph.D. or equivalent), and appropriate credentials to qualify for appointment to the rank of Professor with tenure per University guidelines.
Consideration may be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence as an administrator; a distinguished record of continuing research or creative activity; superior interpersonal and communication skills; experience managing budget and personnel; experience with national accreditation procedures; experience with the promotion and tenure process; experience with alumni relations, fundraising, and knowledge of related professions, emerging technologies, sustainability, climate change mitigation, and innovative practices impacting teaching and research in architecture and interior design; knowledge and appreciation of professional practice contexts and industry experience including professional license or certification.
