We are looking for a Director to guide the day-to-day strategic counsel for multicultural marketing initiatives for a Major Beauty Brand as well as providing guidance on how to shape national campaigns to effectively reach (and resonate with) diverse audiences.
This role will give you a rare opportunity to be in an in-house+agency hybrid environment, dedicated to shaping the creative PR efforts for a globally recognized beauty brand.
With 7-9+ years of experience, we’re looking for someone who has developed strong media relationships and has a track record of success securing meaningful placements with top tier outlets including, but not limited to Essence, Ebony, Blavity, Hello Beautiful, Allure, Byrdie and more. This role executes brand programming with excellence, and provides expertise on how to stay ahead in a rapidly changing earned media landscape.
This role will also be a key client point of contact, updating clients on the status of our work, reacting to feedback and being a great partner. The role also supports senior team members for higher-level campaign projects: contribute original creative ideas, support strategy development, write messaging documents, and coordinate with an inter-agency team. Campaigns have a dual emphasis on mission-driven, DEI work as well as ingredients-driven product storytelling.
Note: This role is based in our NYC office, working two days a week in the office on a hybrid schedule.
How you’ll make an impact:
Drive long-term strategy and create tentpole campaigns with a strong focus on how to communicate with diverse audiences.
Build strong rapport with client and interagency partners, operating as a lead contact
Establish and maintain warm relationships with consumer media in print, digital, podcast, and broadcast, leading to regular placements as well as feature stories.
Originate out-of-the-box ideas that strengthen client’s marketplace positioning
Manage in all directions to make sure everyone is appropriately briefed and projects run smoothly
Furnish insights that capture both quantitative and qualitative results, acknowledging major wins, lessons learned, and moments of impact delivered by the team
Develop strategies and relationships to earn placements beyond .com
Mentor our strong and capable junior team, helping them flourish into future leaders
Why we’ll love you:
You have 7-9+ years of experience within an agency or in house setting focused on media relations, or public relations with client leadership experience and proven warm reporter relationships
You are knowledgeable and passionate about telling stories that resonate with Black/ African American audiences via earned media tactics.
You know about trends, communities and events with before others, generating campaign suggestions that connect these emerging concepts to client initiatives
You will have experience working within a cross functional internal or external partners or within an IAT
You are organizationally strong. You plan and delegate in a productive manner, focusing on key priorities
You love coming up with new experimental ways for everything from pitch angles to events to storytelling through brand partnerships
