Liturgical Press invites applications for the full-time, benefit eligible position of Strategic Marketing and Public Relations Manager for Give Us This Day.
The Strategic Marketing and Public Relations Manager, reporting to and working closely with the Publisher, directs marketing efforts and customer relations for Give Us This Day, a monthly periodical for personal prayer with an authentically centrist Catholic, Benedictine editorial profile. The position is responsible for increasing the overall mission reach of the publication, as well as ensuring overall customer satisfaction. The goals of the position are achieved through exploration of new market segments, knowledgeability of subscription marketing and circulation strategy, and a focus on trends and influences in the national and global ecclesial environment.
The Strategic Marketing and Public Relations Manager for Give Us This Day collaborates with members of the Liturgical Press marketing team, including the Digital Marketing Strategist, to maximize efforts across the publishing house for increased visibility and audience expansion. In conjunction with the Circulation Manager, the position also directs efforts to ensure positive customer experience, customer satisfaction, and knowledge of market trends related to subscription and single copy sales for the publication.
Liturgical Press is internationally known as a Catholic and ecumenical publisher in prayer and spirituality, Scripture, liturgy, theology, and monastic life. Founded in 1926, the Liturgical Press is the publishing house of Saint John's Abbey, a Benedictine community located within the 3000 acres of woods and lakes on the campus of Saint John's University in central Minnesota.
Marketing 1. Gather and analyze market data to identify trends for targeting new market segments; strategize networking plans to make inroads into these areas and create tailored messaging and campaigns to reach leaders, influencers, and potential users in each new market segment. 2. Create an annual marketing and sales plan for Give Us This Day to achieve overall revenue goals. 3. Implement marketing and sales plan and direct any staff assigned to assist in the sales and marketing efforts for Give Us This Day. 4. Plan and create the necessary conversion and renewal series in print and digital formats. Update and audit as needed. 5. Create and manage subscriber and potential subscriber research efforts.
Customer Experience 6. Maintain focus on high-quality customer interactions and experience in product, processes, and people encountered. 7. Respond as appropriate to subscriber requests and complaints.
Sales 8. Establish relationships with key groups of potential subscribers for the targeted marketing and sales of Give Us This Day. 9. Support volunteers or part-time staff with clear direction and resources needed to support efforts in targeted market niches. 10. In collaboration with the GUTD team and other Lit Press staff, represent GUTD and Lit Press at conferences.
Circulation 11. Create circulation estimates for the fiscal year based on expected attrition and marketing goals. 12. In collaboration with the Circulation Coordinator, set/approve a print order for each issue, including copies needed for subscription fulfillment, sampling programs, and single-copy sales. 13. Collaborate with the Circulation Coordinator to monitor and adjust inventory as needed to ensure good use of inventory.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor?s degree in marketing, business administration, or a solid liberal arts background.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Five or more years? experience in sales and/or marketing. 2. Experience in publishing and/or circulation desirable. 3. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to external audiences. 4. Creative thinker who can add value to team discussions and planning sessions. 5. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadline commitments. 6. Ability to collaborate across departments within Liturgical Press. 7. Ability to work with and for others.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: ? Personal interest and familiarity with spiritual writing, literature, and prayer practices. ? Effective communication and collaboration skills. ? Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects, and to complete them in a timely fashion. ? Strong computer skills.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: ? Sitting for prolonged periods of time. ? Extensive use of computers and keyboard. ? Occasional lifting may be required.
