General Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in History, Art, Art History, Education, Museum Studies, or a related field. At least three years of related experience. Supervisory experience preferred. Curriculum development or classroom teaching and/or previous experience as a museum educator desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Responsible for the development and implementation of Museum educational programs and activities, conducts research in support of programs and exhibits. Works in close cooperation with other professional staff to accomplish Museum planning and development.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Administers and supervises all areas of the Museum's Education Department. Provides leadership in the development, administration and evaluation of museum programs. Hires, directs and evaluates full time and part-time interpreters and employees. Recruits, trains and supervises volunteers and docents. Develops collaborative programming initiatives with university departments, other institutions and community organizations. Coordinates programming with other departments of the museum. Manages budgets. Schedules tours, audio-visual presentations, lectures, workshops and special events. Performs other related duties as assigned.
