We are specifically looking for photos in these areas: higher education, event photography, editorial photos, headshots, marketing photos, candids, and sports photography.
As a member of University of Michigan-Dearborn's External Relations department, the Photographer will carry out a range of responsibilities focused on visual storytelling - promoting UM-Dearborn's mission, reputation, brand and program offerings through the use of authentic and engaging photos.
The Photographer will be a key member of the communications team, and is responsible for capturing professional, dynamic photos aimed at engaging multiple audiences including prospective students, current students, staff, faculty, alumni and the community.
This position will work closely with other members of the team as well as departments across campus.
The role requires strong photography and photo editing skills.
This position is a one-year term limited position with the possibility of extension based upon available funding. An equipment stipend will be provided by the university for the duration of the term.
Capture and edit engaging photos for marketing, Reporter (faculty/staff enews), social media, university events and other campus needs.
Schedule photo shoots using Calendly or other scheduling software.
Upload photos to digital archiving system including proper naming convention and metadata.
Propose ideas and collaborate with other communications team members to serve the overall goals of the department.
Proactively look for opportunities to photograph "life on campus".
Coach communication interns on basic photography skills.
Other duties as assigned.
3+ years of professional photography experience.
Proven ability to capture professional, engaging images.
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop / Lightroom.
Experience working in a higher education environment preferred but not required.
Ability to capture action sports photos preferred but not required.
This is a one-year term limited position with the possibility of extension based upon available funding. A hybrid work schedule (some hours on campus and some hours working remotely). Limited evening and weekend work will be expected (with notice).
This position is not eligible for VISA sponsorship.
