Responsibilities of this position include:

• Support and participate in the conceptualization, scheduling, documentation and design deliverable process on small and mid-size projects under the direction of Lead Designer(s)
• Assemble images and text in InDesign in the development of Schematic Packages under the direction of the Lead Designer.
• Assist in basic Photoshop exercises to alter images to convey lighting concepts.
• Participate in the development of AutoCAD/REVIT drawing standards according to Client and project-specific requirements
• Coordinate with Client CAD/BIM Managers to obtain, maintain and manage current file structure for all relevant electronic CAD/BIM information on projects.
• Review and manipulate electronic copies of project drawings, files, folders and xrefs
• At key project milestones, request and review Client drawing packages. Issue request for clarification and information on incomplete submissions and/or conflicting information.
• Assist in layout and perform photometric calculations to substantiate general lighting patterns on project.
• Support the development of documentation of specifications, cut sheets and fixture schedules for final review by Lead Designer(s)
• Assemble cost estimates for final review by Lead Designer(s)
• Prepare in-progress deliverable packages of drawings and other project documentation for periodic reviews with Lead Designer(s)
• Attend client presentations and record meeting minutes/remarks as may be required
• Perform initial fixture and control submittal reviews
• Assist in research on energy code requirements and review sustainability checklists prepared by Client or Client’s subconsultants
• Support and assist in the creation of detailed hand-drawn or computer-generated sketches, details and renderings
• Create, organize and perform mockups (in-house & on-site)
• Participate in and attend site surveys, on-site mockups and project commissioning exercises
• Assist as requested with administrative tasks as requested by the firm Principal

Required education and skills:

• 4-Year College Degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Theatre or Industrial Design.
• The ability to function effectively in a “team” environment on multiple projects with critical and overlapping deadlines
• Excellent research, graphical and technical communication skills, written and verbal, in order to effectively communicate with clients and manufacturers
• Solid proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit with knowledge of xrefs, blocks, layer management, families, links and design standards
• Solid proficiency in MS Office Suite including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
• Solid proficiency in luminaire photometry, industry-standard guidelines such as the IESNA and working with commercial electrical systems
• 3-5 years demonstrated experience with computer-generated lighting calculation software platforms (preferably AGI32 and/or Dialux)
• Demonstrated problem-solving, hand drawing and computer rendering skills (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Proficiency in BlueBeam
• Ability to effectively supervise designers, junior designers and interns
• Readiness to assist and supervise typical commissioning exercises during both daytime and evening hours including, but not limited to : aiming and focusing at varying heights, controls programming, equipment troubleshooting, photographic documentation of site conditions and creation/review of written punch lists
