Job Description:
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track faculty position in the Visual Communications (VIS) department to begin August 21, 2023. The successful candidate will primarily teach photo and video storytelling for students studying photography, video and graphic design, as well as Newhouse first year undergrads in the foundational Multimedia Storytelling course.
Widely regarded as the nation's leading communications school, Newhouse is home to approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 180 graduate students. It is housed in a 250,000-square-foot, three-building complex that includes state-of-the-art classrooms, a 300-seat auditorium, a research center, an executive education wing, a café, and many spaces for formal and informal meetings and collaboration among students, faculty, and staff. The Dick Clark Studios and the Allen Gerry Center for Media Innovation, include a high-tech entertainment production space, and provides the school with a cutting-edge media facility that gives students a strong preparation for careers in the profession.
The school also has a dedicated professional, two-story photo studio, as well as the Kim Steele Portfolio Center and digital printing facility.
Our students come from around the world and secure a place in the class through a highly competitive admissions process. This year's incoming freshmen earned an average 3.9 GPA.
