Required Skill/ability 2:
In-depth knowledge and evidence of expertise in art history or British history, or in a relevant area of rare books. Detailed understanding of rare books and special collections.
Required Skill/ability 3: Demonstrated independence and willingness and ability to be self-directed. Ability to take initiative, anticipate actions needed, and to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Required Skill/ability 4: Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrate ability as an effective manager and collaborator. Proven record of successfully managing a team to meet department goals.

Proven record of curatorial and scholarly achievement, such as the development of acquisitions, exhibitions, or publications.
Preferred Education: MA or PhD in British art history, British history, or literary history, or Masters Degree from an ALA-accredited program with relevant RBM subject knowledge. Five years progressively responsible experience managing a rare books collection and familiarity with manuscripts market. Strong knowledge of library procedures and best practices, as well as, book history and print culture

Master's Degree in Art History and five years of curatorial experience or an equivalent education and experience.
