Polytechnic School seeks a skilled School and PolySummer Photographer and Digital Media Specialist to help showcase our school’s distinctive learning community. The ideal candidate should excel in photography, be skilled in videography, and be passionate about visual storytelling and creating engaging media content.
This position works primarily during school hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., but requires flexibility to work some evening and weekend events. The position is contracted for 12 months: 10 months from mid-August to mid-June dedicated to being on the school’s Communications team for 30 hrs/week; 2 months from mid-June to mid-August will be devoted to PolySummer program photography. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Communications, Photography and Videography and the Manager of Digital Content of PolySummer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Capture high-quality visual content of school events and student activities for multimedia purposes, such as social media, print publications, websites, and marketing materials;
Maintaining photography/videography equipment;
Managing photo and video archives; Knowledge of Vidigami a plus;
Engage robustly in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment;
Assist with social media posts, including content creation and scheduling;
Assist in the production of promotional videos for school use;
Assist in the content management of the Parent Organization K-12 website;
Participate in the development and implementation of schoolwide communication strategies;
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Energy and passion for capturing the images of K-12 students for publications, social media, and photo galleries shared with parents, faculty, and the community;
Ability to film videos with a DSLR camera, as well as a personal iPhone;
Strong social skills, patient, good with school-aged children, and passionate faculty and staff;
Strong Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro skills;
Ability to work with both natural and studio lighting;
Strong storytelling, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Attention to detail;
Ability to communicate effectively through written and spoken communication;
Ability to lift and operate camera equipment (equipment provided) - up to 40 lbs;
Familiarity with the independent school landscape is a plus;
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or related field, preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines, as well as a diverse array of contacts;
Work at a desk and computer;
Work in a traditional climate-controlled environment as well as outside events in a variety of weather conditions;
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry archival materials (up to 40 lbs.) and perform tasks involving standing, bending, reaching, walking up and down stairs, and carrying items for extended distances.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
$40 to $45/hr, 30 hours/wk
